Sick Already

Well After having a really healthy 2011 we all came down with a horrible cold this week that kept us from school and work for the first time in ages. We are all still just starting to feel better and we hope over the course of the next week we will be running around full speed! So other that no exciting happenings this week except that I read 5 books sense the start of the year, they were all good and I enjoyed each of them (once I like on book I usually just start buying the books people bought with this book when my kindle shows them).

We had such a fun December this year, with a trip to my grandma's house, chirstmas and disney land we really enjoyed our seleves. Here are some of my favorite pictures from our outings.

I just can't beleive that May 4th is right around the corner, even more so I can't believe we have been blessed with this little soul for 3 years. I have been working on his party for about a month now and its starting to shape up. When I asked him what kinda of birthday he wanted he responded with "A swimming dinasour train" so i have been finding creative was to inturrpret that all into a single party. Here is a color board of his party which includes dinasours, trains, a candy buffet , and the swimming pool. More posts on the hand made stuff for his party coming soon.

I really like this Blog called The Long Thread she has all kinds of really cute projects and best of all there are lots of things to make little boys and sense I have one of those thats really good for me. I came across this rocket tutorial early this summer and filed it away then when hunting around a fabric store I found some amazing fabric that would be perfect for it so I whipped up two of these little rockets for Christmas. The only thing I changed on it was I made a simple pocket for the little egg guy to ride in stead of the hole.

Felt Food

One of littleman's gifts this year was felt food. I don't think I will ever make a set like this again I didn't realize the type of time it was going to take but I am very happy with the result. There are a ton of free patterns out there but I got mine from some really great etsy sellers.

(this set has a bag, a half dozen eggs, milk, butter, can of tuna, can of soup, can of green beans, can of corn, and a fish)

(this set has some potatos,eggplant,corn,tomato, celery , onion, mushroom, carrot, squarsh, peas, and lettuce)

(this set has a plum, apple, orange, and peach)

A little crochet

I made three crochet items this christmas, 2 scarves and 1 hat. I forgot to take pictures of one of the scarves but here is the second one

I got the pattern from here and I really love how fun it is

The second item is a hat to go with littleman's button flapped long john jamies on christmas eve and is my pattern.

Pattern

row1-chain to the length of the head size you want then whip stitch at the end

row2through8- single crochet in each single crochet (2 rows of red then 2 rows of white

row-9throughEnd-single crochet in every other single crochet (decreacing with every first row of the color, so decrease on the first red then do a normal row or red switch to white and decrease then do a normal row of white)

Keep doing row nine till you reach your desired length then you can add pompoms or what ever edging you like!

Fabric Doll House Purse

While I was googling around for christmas gift ideas this year I came across this post and I fell in love with the idea and I also had the perfect person on my list to recieve this gift. Sense this isn't my pattern or idea I won't give any directions on it but head over to UK lass in US she has a great tutorial. I did change it up a bit by not using the frame she did, instead I just used a good amount of batting and cut the fabric out in the shapes instead of wraping it (this was for a two year old and I was afraid to put anything hard in it). I also purchased a wooden doll house furniture set(4 bucks at micheaals) and made a quick zip bag to carry it all in. I am really happy how it turned out and I think I will make it again especially sense the whole thing can be made out of your fabric scraps.

Stacking Blocks

A great gift for little fingers are squeshy tag stacking blocks. There are lots of free patterns for them out there, but they are simple enough that you can get the job done with out a real pattern. Here is my take on them.
(difficulty/time scale I would rank these as easy peasy maybe an hour at the most to whip up a whole set)

Supplies

(6-6x6 pieces of soft and fun fabric)X the number of blocks you want to make
(4-2" pieces of cordinating ribbion)X the number of the blocks you want to make
Stuffing (I like to save old pillows )
Cordinating thread
Needle
Sewing machine

Process

Step 1. Take four of the squares and sew Square1's edge to Square2's edge (right sides together (right sides are the sides of te fabric that you want to show)) then sew Square2's other edge to Square3's edge then sew Square3's other edge to Square4's edge (you should have a straight line of fabric) finally for this step Sew Square4's edge to Square1's edge (you should now have a circle of fabric)
Step 2. Take the the other 2 squares and attatch them as tops and bottoms (be sure to leave a spot unsewn to turn you project right side in)
Step 3. Turn your project right side in and stuff with your fill (make sure to poke all your corner with the corner stick to get nice stiff corners) also at this point if you wish you can put jingle bells in the block or maybe krinkle paper
Step4. Sew up your turning hole
Step5. Fold the ribbons in half and attatch them to the edges with a needle and thread

I made this for littleman when he was about 7-8 months old and he really loved them, and I made them this year in two variations: a smaller set for a 6 month old little guy so that they would be easy to hold and eat and a large squishier set for a little 1 year old girl so she could build and fall on them with out getting hurt.All three times they where a huge hit!

Every one put your hands together for future NBA Super Star (crowd goes extremely wild well at least me and Mr Charming for sure) Squrimy the wormy (then that super cool NBA music you know the one im talking about)

He totally wore this to his little Gym class and worked out like he was in the 80's its definately going to be staple in his summer wardrobe. On a complete side note the Grocery store who carries those carts is Evil Evil Evil with capitol E they are 40 dollars and just so we are clear 40 dollars for a little shopping cart and they leave them out where little kids can spot them and attach them selves to them leaving the store without the cart was absolutely heart breaking for squirmy and all the people watching us.

Back in the Swing of it

What a busy month or so it was but im not going to update you, that would take to way to long and might cause me to crawl back in my blogging hermit hole. First things first for those who have asked about the Boy quiet book I did indeed finish one for my little man on time for Christmas he loves it and it does its job a church. I will post a tutorial about it sometime next week pinky promise. Second family life... oh family life each month we have a family meeting we sit down plan out play dates and date nights and then make family goals like keep up with the dishes keep the house clean and each one of us takes responsibility of a goal. Let me give you a two part example
1
Mr charming in December took on" keep the dishes done" he successfully completed the goal and continues to do so. We removed the goal from the calendar because we no longer need to call it out it has become a habit.
2.
In December I took on "Keep the laundry done"....... We still continue to call it out. No matter how hard I just can't do it, I tell you can't do it. But soon it will be April that's a new month and I think I can I think I can....

Third on to sweet sweet little Squirmy what a big boy he is. He has been out of diapers for 1month yay we are so proud of him [we aren't using pampers either]. He is graduating to the next level in his Gym class next month. He speaks to us in full almost 2 year old sentences you know like "I big" "Help me" "I do it" "I pee". He knows the colors red, blue, yellow, green, and purple and all the signs for them. And he will be two in a months time ... maybe that's why I can't finish the laundry goal I have been completely wrapped up in planning the most awesome Elmo 2nd birthday Ever! My Son the non-Baby

**Wow its been such a long time but work has consumed my life the last couple of months I won't try to catch you up on all the fun happenings and crafts ill just trudge forward as I love to live in the present and not dwell in the past!**

My Son the non-Baby, my sweet little precious baby you know the one with the strawberry blond hair and the creamy white skin and pink cheeks, the one with the baby blue eyes and slobbery kisses well he is no more. One day not to long ago I woke up with a toddler jumping on my head [literally] and as I opened sleepy eyes I thought who is this little person. He truly has transformed he is long and slender and you can see his baby face slowly slipping away and his personality wow that is threw the roof! He sleeps in a big boy bed and comes and goes as he wishes, he no longer takes a bottle, and he gave his Binky up (yes we are as shocked as you), and last night my friends that sweet little boy pooped on our bedroom floor. See we are potty training and he does a great job except for if he is playing with something his is not supposed to be playing with (in this case the quarters we use to give him rides at the store) then he just forgets and there you have it poop on the floor. As soon as this occurred he ran out into the kitchen were me and Mr.Charming were talking and shouted pee pee we glanced at each other and both jumped up proclaiming oh no not the bed. When we got in there he lead us to the place right in front of the closet two little piles one not smashed the other completely smashed into the carpet about 20 wipes later and half a bottle of resolve good as new and Mr Charming and I lied on the bed in hysterical laughter Our son pooped on our bedroom floor !

Spicy Chicken Stromboli

10 oz pizza dough
1/2 cup of broccoli
1/4 cup of chuncky salsa
1/2 cup Montary jack
10 0z of chicken [cooked]

1. spread the pizza dough out into a 10X15 circle
2. Mix the remaining ingredients in a medium bowl
3. place bowl ingredients on to pizza dough
4. Roll pizza dough jelly roll style
5. place in oven @ 400 for 15 min
*serve in thin slices with salsa dipping sauce*

Through the Eyes of a 1 year old

As parents we get this great blessing to experience everything about life for the first time through Our children.
Squirmy's latest discovery is dipping, he loves to dip fries in ketchup and bread sticks in sauce and chips and dip and most recently (recent being last night at the dinner table) he discovered dipping things in milk, well at first he was drinking the milk but you know how as a parent you always make that fatal mistake of doing something in front of them that sparks their need to also do it... my crime I dipped a cookie in his milk (Hey I had already finished my Dinner...kinda) and so it was that Squirmy then dipped his turkey sandwich and cantaloupe in milk he ate the whole plate so I guess in the eyes of a one year old everything taste better when its soaked in milk

8oz fresh whole mushrooms

2 cans of Cream of mushroom soup

2 cups egg noodles

steps

1 roll ground beef into desired meat ball size

2 dump all ingrediants in crockpot

3 cook on low go to work come home serve dinner :)

this was a great meal week our grocery total was only 57 bucks and that included odds and ends and lunchs for both my hubby and I so if your on a tight budget this might be a good one to go with :D

Quiet Book Tutorial [Girl Addition]

Many of you may have been wondering what this little button has been doing on my sidebar for the last month

its a little badge of honor; an indication of burnt fingers from hot glue guns, strained eyes from the attachment of tiny little buttons, creative juices tapped
it is the badge of a quiet book maker!

I have completed the first of 2 quiet books I will make this year just in time for baby A's first birthday! This one is a"Girls" Quiet Book geared towards a 1 year old, although there are several pages that will not reach their full potential till she is 3 or 4 [Room to Grow]

**Please feel free to use any of my pages and if you would like send me pictures of the finished product and all attach them to the end of each pages tutorial for inspiration to others**

The hardest part of completing the task of making a quiet book is time constraints; pages can just consume you! So I have created a little scale that will let you pick a page to work on with the time you have so you don't feel over whelmed when you don't know where to start.
*on skill level of sewing I would say I was right in the middle so if you are an expert or a beginner it might take a little less or longer time to complete the pages*

The Cover

Materials Needed

24x24 piece of Fabric of your choosing
Iron on letters [making up child's name]
Fill
1 12in x1/4 in piece
2 6in x 1/4in piece
Iron
Thread
Sewing machine or hand needle

Instructions

Iron the letter for the child's name any where you like keeping in mind this fabric will fashion a book cover

With the right sides facing in of the 24in fabric sew along the edges of the fabric joining them together keep a small hole open on an edge so that you put the fill in

Flip the fabric right side

Fill to you desired fluffyness

Hand sew the hole closed

Now we will make a binding I sewed two straight lines about 10 inches from each side giving a 4 inch bind

Attach the 12 inch piece of fabric to the top and bottom of the bind making a little handle to hold the book by

Attach the 6 in pieces of fabric to the edges of the top book cover and the back book cover so that the book can be tied shut

Find a photo of a girl (it could be your child) and print it out on the printable fabric
Cut out the photo
Sew it on to the page
Sew the buttons on to the face
Hot glue the yarn onto the girls face as hair
Add bows to tie the yarn into braids

attach the soft side of the Velcro to the letters

Assemble the Book

Stuff each book with as much fill as you like (i cut up some grocery bags and stuffed them in each page to make them crunchy)
Then use some quilt binding to close off each hold and add an edge to the page
Finally sew each page into the binding section of the book

Then Thats it the book is finished!

Sunday Meal Plan

With a Full time job and a Full time family life can be a bit crazy some times

but the one thing I never have to worry about is whats for dinner.

When the hubby and I got married we started a budget and "meal planning" neither of us had ever shared a bank account and we needed some help so each sunday we write out a meal plan and a grocery list and then hit the store. We have two sets of criteria

1. Each meal must cost less then 12 dollars

2. Each meal must be able to be cooked in 30 mins or less

So in hopes of writing all the meal plans down to use later and sharing them with you Sunday will now be the "Meal Plan"

Squirmy's Birthday Blanket

I finished my third quilt about three weeks ago and it is definately getting better!

for this blanket I chose to use fleece and flannel and some of that bumpy fleece.

fleece and flannel where a little bit harder to work with and I learned very quickly if you iron the bumpy fleece you get non bumpy fleece.

Tutorial: Baby E's Booties

New babies are such a blessing here is a baby set I made for my coworkers new baby boy

The booties are my favorite part of this set so here are the instructions to make your own :)

BOOTY

rnd1= ch14; 3sc in 2nd ch from hook; 5 sc, 6 dc, 7 dc in last loop (repeat the above for other side); 2sc join

rnd2= ch3, 2dc in sp, dc in next st; 2dc in next st; 11 dc; 3 dc 1dc (toe); dc 11; 2dc ;1dc join

rnd3-4= ch3; dc 45TOErnd1=9 dc; 4decrease; 9dcrnd2=8dc;3decrease; 8 dcrnd3=join

The ediging is the best part its a rib stitching :)

EDGINGrnd1=chain 10 turn sc in top loop only for 10; 1 sc in base turn*repeat the entire length of booty top* on the last stitch slip stich to join to the sides then fold bootytop down once and then thats it!

Tutorial: Cup Cake Stand

When planing an event like a birthday or a wedding the cake is always the main attraction. I knew when I was planning my wedding that I wanted a cupcakes instead for two reasons one they are cheaper and two who eats a whole piece of cake. I looked and looked for a stand to buy but couldn't find one that was exactly what I wanted so I just made my own.

[Squirmy's First Birthday]

They are perfect because you can make specific for each events theme .

The supplies you will need are
-are 3 card board cake circles [10 inch 8 inch 6 inch]

-theme cordinating fabric of wrapping paper [enough to cover the tops of the circles]

-three cylinders [these can be cans or i use flower arangement foam]

-cordinating ribbion[enough to go around the edges and to go around the cylinders I usually use 4 rolls]

-hot glue & Gun

The Steps to follow are

Step 1.

Place a thin circle of hot glue down on your circle and place the paper/fabirc down

Trim the paper/fabric flush with the circle's edge *Repeat this step with all three circles*

Step 2

cover the cylenders with the ribbion.

Place a dot of hot glue on the cylinder and place the ribbion firmly on the dot apply pressure till dry. wrap the ribbion around the cylinder and then secure at top by placing a dot of hot glue on the cylinder and placing the ribbion firmly on the dot apply pressure till dry. *Repeat this for all 3 cylinders*

Step3

Attatch the ribbion to the circles edges.

Place a dot of glue on the circles edge place ribbion on dot and press firmly till dry. Spread about one inch of glue then ribbion pressing firmly till dry till you reach the starting point. *repeat for all 3 circles*

Step 4

attach one cylinder to the bottom of 10inch circle by placing a layer of hotgule on the cylinder then placing it firmly in the center of the cicle hole till dry.

Step 5

attach one cylinder to the top of 10inch circle by placing a layer of hotgule on the cylinder then placing it firmly in the center of the cicle hole till dry.

Step 6

attatch the 8 inch circle to the top of the cylinder that is attached to the top of the 10inch

by placing a layer of hotgule on the cylinder then placing it firmly in the center of the cicle hole till dry.

Step 7

attach one cylinder to the top of 8inch circle by placing a layer of hotgule on the cylinder then placing it firmly in the center of the cicle hole till dry.

Step 8

attatch the 6 inch circle to the top of the cylinder that is attached to the top of the 8inch

by placing a layer of hotgule on the cylinder then placing it firmly in the center of the cicle hole till dry.

And thats it your done this cake stand easly holds 50 cupcakes and one 6 inch cake on the top

We have the privilege of living amongst the funniest group of children I have ever met. They share every bit of personal information they have with you as soon as you walk out the door and you must also share with them interesting tidbits of you life. Usually we come in through the back door and can make it inside the house before they catch us but as the weather is warmer we take nightly walks and aren't so lucky. Our walk Sunday Evening....

Giggles and mama dadads is what I woke up to with one eye open I saw squirmy crawling full speed ahead to my room dad in tow of coarse. As I came down the stairs he threw a card my way I opened that card addressed "MOMMY" of coarse and a sheet of paper slipped out in to my lap, daddy said squirmy came up with it he just fixed the spelling errors and I thought I should share it with you because its sort of perfect and will surely touch every mothers heart out there because I know it touched mine (espicially coming from my 1 year old )

1 Amazing Year

Dear Squirmy, Today you are the big ONE! We woke up and went and had a special birthday day. Both mommy and daddy took the day off of work. We went to Toys R Us and you got the special birthday treatment. Then we went to build a bear to build you a special birthday bear....Then we went to the doctor but try not to remember that part. Wow how you have grown

With such a wide varity of ages attending Squirmys birthday we needed a place that would be fun for childern under to ten years old .... So why not go to a place that specializes in entiretaining groups of exactly that range? Squirmy's birthday party will be held at our local Mygym. Not only is this a place that he is both loves and is very familiar with but they do everything for you no joking. They put up the decorations plan the adventures for the kids which entertains them for an entire hour plus they do all the clean up what could get better then that!

While researching the best places we also looked at

-jungle jims

-the children's museum

-the little gym

Essentially the two things we learned while picking a location is

1) we need a place that Squirmy is both comfortable and familiar with

2) something that would be fun for adults, and children from 10years-6 months old

My gym just did the trick!

For Easter we did the most exciting thing

We drove all the way down to New Mexico to Suprise Squirmy's Grandma Mayberry

[we caught here while she was dieing her hair :P she had no idea we were coming!]

we died eggs, hunted them and had so much fun with family!

Party Planning-The Theme

It is always easeier to plan a party when you have a theme

After google a bunch and getting on unique ideas for party themes I found that this site

Is an amazing place for kids party information

here was their list of things to consider for a 1st birthday theme

Were there any special toys your child particularly loved during his or her first year, such as a teddy bear or special doll? If so, you could use the toy as a theme.
The number “1″ is a very popular theme for this age!
The child’s first initial is also another popular theme, and could be along the lines of having an Alphabet party.
A favorite color could also be a theme to build your party around.
I have seen some really unusual themes, such as a Tiffany’s store theme or antique car theme. They can be seen as giving a classic, vintage feel or something a bit more upscale for your party … depending on your plans of course!
People often combine a child’s christening with his or her first birthday party. Although these are two separate events, there can be a joint theme.
A favorite character, such as Baby Einstein, would also be an appropriate theme for a first birthday party.

After reading this list I decided to go with the UNUSUAL THEME it helps to support my crafting addiction

What a great weekend we had in Colorado!

I have been busy working on another quilt I am quickly coming adicted to quilting!

Although I do not feel like I am good enough to give you tutorials or patterns yet I would love to share with you the one I have been working on for my neice!

It is called vintage crib

The hardest part of this quilt is learning how to had quilt this little shell pattern

I can't wait to finish it

Such an exciting weekend filled with good laughs and friends

I am surprised I got to work on these but very happy with how they turned out

first this weekend I finished the binding on my quilt

but its a perfect size for a baby

Weekend Crafts had a nice 4 day vaction too but now they are back with lots of pretty treats!

This weekend I took on three projects

1) a wallet made from fat quarters

2) a male hat

3) a female hat

PROJECT ONE

Supplies

1) 2 fat quartest [one solid print and one pattern print]

2) a button or clasp

3) 5 in zipper

The instructions can be found here I put 4 credit card holders on one side and made a little pocket on the other side and then also used the button instead to make the pattern mine and I really love how it turned out

Project TWO & THREE

Supplies

1) G crochet needle

2) 1 bail of heavy lion yarn

The pattern for the hat is

Ch 3

rnd 1 10 dc in 3 ch from hook join

rnd 2 3 ch *2 dc* in each sc arnd join

rnd 3 ch3 *1 dc, 2dc* in each sc arnd join

rnd 3 ch3 *1dc next 2, 2 dc* in each sc arnd join

rnd 4-11 ch3 *2 FRDT, 2dc* in each sc arnd join

The pattern for the flower is

While I cook each night Squirmy sits on the kitchen floor tugging at my pant legs and whacking me with the wooden spoon while singing to me [if you could only see him]

Dinner was close to being done and I joined him on the cool floor snicker doodle cookie in hand [yum!] those baby blues fluttered at me and Squirmy signed hungry hungry hungry [now if you are one of those moms who never gives your young child sugar stop reading now because your will be mortified by my next statement] So what else was I to do but share my cookie with that big eyed boy and just like a the mouse one bite was not enough he ate the Hole thing and then some so...

We spent a wonderful 4 day weekend fully emersered in our selves and little squirmy at the

RED ROCK RESORT AND SPA

As we celebrated my adult hood [Hahaha] and V-Day

We were mostly lazy with room service and a trip to the spa for V-Day and very speratic and unplanned walk abouts around Vegas

Some time in December I purchased 1 yard yes just 1 yard of the brown fuzzy fleece with the bears you have been seeing so much of in total I have made

thats a ton of stuff for 3 bucks!

if you cut a yard correctly it goes long I am both sad and happy to annouce that I have used the very last of it for this weekends crafts

Tag toys I love love love this pattern found here all the scrap material I have will be devoted to making Squirmy tons of little blocks!

The hubby said the one on the right is over stuffed but its just extra squishy!

this one is not as exciting but I added a zipper to the bag from last weeks blog it made the bag alot more sturdy! you can by a zipper from any craft store or even walmart I picked mine up from there while grocery shopping its a 24 in parker zipper and you just need one little seam on each side and your done

Next weekend we will be in the car on our way to a nice little vacation so it will be a crocheting weekend I hope to get Squirmy's scrap blanket done!

I love my husband so much! I have made it an eternal goal to try and show him each day how special he is to me and there is no better month then the month of February to make a huge attempt at this!
So thus I have come up with the 12 days of Valentines not to be confused with the 12 days of Christmas because this has everything to do with those three little words
I, Love, and You!
so here we go
Each day he will be getting a red bag filled with an item and a poem to go along with it the gifts vary
the items are being delivered to him at different times of the day by different people

These weekend wasn't such a crafty weekend sense it was spent turning a guest room into a nursery but here is a little picture update on my progress with Squirmy's scrap blanket! I think I have about 5 hours left on it I really love how it is turning out.

I have to drive to work in a cold frosted vehicle
I know your asking your self how is this different from any other day
well on normal days my hubby gets out of bed clears my car off and warms it up long before I drag my self up out of bed!

Up
I get to have lunch with the two most amazing people in the world
this would of coarse be hubby and Squirmy

I think the up cancels out the down

Yay its Monday and I have my craft post all ready

This weekend I worked on two crafts the first was a paint smock

and the second is Squirmy's scrap blanket

This Weekend we took him to the Childrens Museum it was so much fun to watch him explore

Weekend Craft Babies Born in 2008 Special Edition

Thats a flashy post title I hope my blog can meet its standards lol

This weekend I tackled 3 projects

1)Squirmy's baby book

2) Squirmy's 2008 time capsule

3) A Hat for a friend

I can say I successfully completed all three but number three turned out so horrible that within minutes I unwound the entire hat and went in search of a new hat pattern which will be tackled this weekend the other projects were very succesful

PROJECT #1
Squirmy's Baby Book
My baby book was given to me at my shower its cute and has lots of places for pictures supplies I used in this project include

1) Baby book

2) Pictures lots and lots of pictures

3) A ball point pen

I am pretty sure you are all capabule of doing the rest your self and are probably thinking at this point why are we getting a craft blog on filling out a baby book ... well my friends you know that one page that is filled with what was happening in the world.... Yeah that page the page I skipped a million time in hopes that it would just disappear .Well I took the time to look everything up that you will need for that page according to the questions in my book ! Cuz lets face it mamas sense our babies have been born who has really kept up on this stuff. I don't know who the top actor is but I could give you a list of all the toys that have been recalled in the last month LOL.. So here we go !

Squimys 2008 Time Capsule
This project was all about saving some great keepsakes

The supplies you need for this project are

a big envelope or box
Stickers markers ect
baby keepsakes

The steps to this project are very creative decorate the box/envelope however you wish and place objects in side with an inventory list of each object and why they are important the objects that I included are

Release papers and test from the hospital
Silver dollar from his birth year
His ultrasound photos
All the cards he has gotten so far
My pregnancy journal
The hat/shirt and hospital bracelets he wore
His I'm a boy name tag
Favors from my baby shower

Weekend Crafts a Thrusday Edition

Wow how the week flew by I had a Crafts post all prepared for Monday morning then I opened my eyes and it was Thursday so here it is!
Even before I had my son I was a scrapper I would keep movie tickets concert tickets booklets and spend ours knee deep in beautiful papers , stickers, cut outs, glue , and memories !
Now that I have a baby I have so many wonderful memories to capture so I spent my weekend looking at all my pregnancy photos, his birth, each month of his life thus far and rereading each little note I had wrote as a monthly update to him and always saying to my hubby aww look how little he was or aww I remember this its funny how in eight months we could have so much to look at ! I used a digital scrap booking software called picaboo and came up with volume .5 Squirmy's first 6 months you can take a look at the book here

This weekend I am working on

8 Months

Dear Squirmy

Today you turned eight months old! Holy smokes did that go by fast!!! Only four more months till your first birthday I am already dreaming about all the fun we will have the cake the balloons the presents. I enjoy every moment with you and I can't wait to see what you will do next! Wow how you have grown!

-You have moved on to size three diapers because you are a cruiser!

-You blow kisses

-You play picaboo

-You can pull your self up on pretty much anything

-You cruise

-You crawl

-You can say mama papa baby and Hiya

-You can sign , hi, hungery, and yes

-You can read the words clap, arms up, and hi

Weekend Crafts a Thursday Edition

I've been busy

This is baby Tatum's set he was not supposed to be here till January 5th but he gave his parent the best Christmas gift and came on December 22nd Happy Birthday Tatum!

THE HAT
This is the same pattern hat that you can find in previous weekend craft post or ask me for but this time I added ear flaps
-how you go about thing this is first locate the position on the ear when the child/adult is wearing the hat
-Row 1-8 sc 8 across ch 1 turn (you can do this continusly till you reach the desired length)
-Dec every other sc on each of the rows till you have on sc left
-ch 25 down from the last sc
repeat this patter on the other side then add a border all the way around the hat to blend

Squirmy Modeling the Hat
This hat will fit 16-32 cm and you can always change the pattern by continuing the last sc sequence to the desirered length
Squirmy about 8 months old in this perticular hat is out a 1/2 inch to small [so you can get a sense of what you will need to do to make the pattern work for you]
you can also add some tassels to the end of the strings or you could leave the strings off if you were concerned with the age of the child you were making this for

The BOOTIES

I love love love these booties and even better I made the pattern up!! Its a little rough still but if you need help just let me know

Top of bootie
-ch 15 sc in 2 sc from the hook
-sc 15 ch1 turn ** repeat 25 times
-join the sides using a slip stich

Heel
-choose another color sc 25 around the top
-sc 13 ch1 turn* repeat 8 times

Toe
-sc 38 around top and heel * 8
-dc every other sc (14 sc)
-14 sc around * repeat 4 times
-dc every other sc until you have 1 sc tie off

Now you just have to make one more !

The Mittens

These are the same mitten pattern found in several of my weekend crafts but I used the ribbed edging which can be acomplished by using the top of bootie pattern

The Blanket

This is the same blanket pattern as my other post this time I just switched out the color to create the strip pattern

This is such a fun chic set I am sad to see it go but know it will bring smiles

Treasure Hunting

We were on a mission that lead us to the Christmas shop for these little beauties

1ST

This is Squirmy's Baby ornament and I must describe to you the details that I feel this picture leaves out ... This is a marshmallow man standing on a chocolate and a graham cracker holding a baby marshmallow in a stocking that says first Christmas ... I just can't stop laughing at this "Smore" Ornament

2nd

This is a Pickle .. What you do with this pickle is hide him in the tree and then the first person to find him on Christmas morning gets an extra gift from Santa... The hubby hid it so well before I got the chance to take a picture of it that it took me a several minutes to find it and I knew what I was looking for ... We are going to have a lot of fun with this tradition
